Racing Victoria is NOT a statutory government body, but the new arrangements provide the minister with the power to appoint the chair, deputy chair and directors of Racing Victoria (previously voted by people who are part of racing organisations). The minister will also have the power to remove a director if the minister considers that the director has brought the Victorian thoroughbred racing industry into disrepute.
