Effects of Bill:

This bill being passed means that:

Limit on claiming compensation for victims of child physical and sexual abuse lifted;

An intermediary can now assist child and vulnerable-adult witnesses giving evidence by ensuring questions and answers are clear and understood by the witness;

adult victims of underage criminals are now allowed to identify themselves (but not the accused) in reports and share publicly what happened;

DNA for minors who commit serious offences (carrying a jail term of at least 15 years) exempt from laws requiring destruction of DNA and fingerprints of minors after a set time
