Effects of Bill:

This bill being passed means that:

Dairy Food Safety Victoria is now responsible for regulating production of Camel milk;

The long defunct Broiler Chicken Negotiation Committee is no longer in legislation;

Costs incurred in forcing land owners to manage pests and noxious weeds on their property can now be dealt with during the sentencing phase of criminal proceedings for offences for non-compliance;

Persons with indictable offences in jurisdictions other than victoria now cannot be delegated authority to grow industrial low-THC hemp;

commercial fishing licences can be surrendered early, and appeals are now heard through VCAT;

Greater autonomy for the Melbourne Market Authority;

Provision for Mobile Abattoirs in Meat Industry Act, exemption for hunters dressing own game not for sale;

Provisions to better manage grape and potato diseases;

Bigger fines for Veterinary misconduct;

Game Management Authority can take action against hunters for offences committed during open season
