Effects of Bill:

This bill being passed means that:

See 2nd Reading Speech for fuller details! DNA can be collected from anyone convicted of violent or drug crime;

Threatening a PSO or their family (worse with a gun) carries a jail term up to 15 years;

Having 20 kg or more of the drugs 1,4-BD, GBL, and GHB will be subject to big penalties for Commercial Trafficking;

Police can close second-hand dealers for 72 hours or long term (with magistrate permission) if they suspect criminal activity;

Victims of sexual abuse and harassment in the Police Force are exempt from mandatory reporting, and restorative engagement is now enabled;

the Sex Offenders Register will be shared more broadly within Vic and Interpol;

Lever action firearms will be recategorised from Cat A to Cat B or D;

Gun Licences will no longer show address;

Easier for Police to confiscate assets;

Changes to police probation leave calculations
