Effects of Bill:
This bill being passed means that:
The Commissioner of Highways now has the ability to undertake infrastructure works, like roadworks and the provision of essential utilities (water, gas, telecommunications, etc.), when a developer fails to complete them.
The Commissioner of Highways now has the ability to recover costs for these works from the responsible developer, or from any associated entity deemed responsible by the Minister.
Before undertaking works, the Commissioner must notify the relevant local council and the landowners involved in the development.
