Effects of Bill:

This bill being passed means that:

Coronial inquests are now not mandatory if (for example) a psych patient dies on a cancer ward - the coroner has discretion to decide if an investigation is needed.

Someone helping give evidence for a coronial inquest should be able to do so without incriminating themself in the process, ideally
