Effects of Bill:
This bill being passed means that:
A fuel price reporting scheme can be legally set up by the government in regulations, and the regulations can say which petrol stations and which types of petrol are covered (because this is done in regulations, it means politicians do not need to vote on every change);
The Fair Trading Commissioner can set up a scheme to tell everyone what the fuel prices are (the wording is vague and would cover radio, email, facebook or website announcements...)
Petrol stations who sell petrol but are not registered with the rego scheme face a $10,000 fine...
Petrol stations who lie or refuse to put their prices into the scheme can be fined up to $10,000
