Effects of Bill:

This bill being passed means that:

Coughing on an emergency services worker or retail worker (shop assistant, including pharmacy, petrol or supermarket workers) when you know you have COVID-19 is now classed as assault;

Coughing on an emergency services worker or retail worker (shop assistant, including pharmacy, petrol or supermarket workers) and then stating or announcing that you have COVID-19 is now classed as assault

These provisions will remain in place for 12 months from when they take effect
