Effects of Bill:

This bill being passed means that:

Deaf People are now no longer exempt from Jury Duty;

An appropriate Auslan interpreter may be engaged provided they are qualified by a specified body. The Interpreter must be impartial. Interpreters may not be harassed to reveal information; they may not reveal information about the proceedings except that which is expressly permitted.
