Effects of Bill:

This bill being passed means that:

Vehicle owners must nominate the person in charge of the car within 21 days for demerit point parking offences.

People who falsely dispute a nomination for a parking or camera offence face fines.

Fines are higher if the vehicle is not registered to a natural person.

People must provide a statutory declaration if Transport for NSW asks for one during a nomination dispute.

People who nominate an overseas driver must provide that driver's passport number and country of issue.

Drivers who breach a good behaviour period must serve double their original suspension time.

Drivers appealing a licence suspension cannot apply for any other type of licence until the Local Court decides the appeal.

It is a criminal offence to falsely nominate someone for a parking offence.
