Effects of Bill:
This bill being passed means that:
A person commits an offence if they stalk or intimidate another person with the intention of causing them to fear physical or mental harm.
A person commits an offence for intentionally engaging in covert stalking if a reasonable person would believe the victim would fear harm if they knew about it.
The definition of stalking now includes directing another person to carry out stalking conduct.
People advertising surveillance devices for sale commit an offence if they promote using those devices to break surveillance laws.
The definition of using a surveillance device now explicitly includes monitoring the device.
The Commissioner of Police must refuse a security industry licence if the applicant has been convicted of or found guilty of a prescribed domestic violence offence.
