Effects of this bill
If this bill passes, it means that:
Licences for medically supervised injecting centres can now last up to 4 years.
The Secretary can extend these licences for 4 years multiple times.
Only one licence for a medically supervised injecting centre can be valid at a time.
The Secretary can force a licence holder to sign a transition agreement.
The Secretary can revoke a licence if the holder breaks a transition agreement.
Licence holders cannot give up their licence without the Secretary's approval.
Licence holders must pay penalties up to 100 penalty units if they break a transition agreement.
The Minister can collect and use data to complete a review of injecting centre laws.
