If this bill passes, it means that:
Energy Safe Victoria can demand written information from transmission companies and declared operators.
Energy Safe Victoria can start legal action for gas safety offences within 3 years of finding out about them.
Owners and operators of complex electrical installations, railways, and declared installations must minimise safety and bushfire risks.
Major electricity companies cannot modify supply networks or safety systems without approval from Energy Safe Victoria.
People who give a formal undertaking must follow it or face a penalty.
