Effects of this bill

If this bill passes, it means that:

The Chief Commissioner of Police can appoint as many police reservists as needed.
Applicants must be former police officers with at least 2 years of service.
Police reservists must take an oath or affirmation before starting work.
Police reservists have the same duties and powers as a constable.
Police reservists do not need a firearms licence for official duties.
New reservists must complete a probation period of at least 3 months.
Police reservists must give 4 weeks' written notice to resign.
