Effects of this bill
If this bill passes, it means that:
The Carbon Transport and Storage Corporation (CTSCo) can enter land to plug greenhouse gas wells or turn them into water supply bores.
CTSCo can still enter land to meet rehabilitation conditions after a well is decommissioned and given to the State.
CTSCo does not have to plug a greenhouse gas well if it converts it to a water supply bore and transfers it to the landowner.
Converting a greenhouse gas well into a water supply bore is now accepted development and does not need planning approval.
CTSCo must give the chief executive a conversion report within 60 business days of a conversion certificate being signed.
Failure to provide the conversion report can result in a fine of up to 100 penalty units.
Ownership and legal responsibility for a converted bore transfer to the landowner once CTSCo notifies the chief executive.
The deadline for CTSCo to give the former EPQ10 end of tenure report to the chief executive is changed.
