Effects of this bill

If this bill passes, it means that:

Police can use surveillance devices and controlled operations for crimes carrying a 3 year prison sentence instead of 7 years.
Police can now use controlled operations to stop criminal activity from happening.
Police can search people found with someone under a Firearm Prohibition Order if they suspect the person has a gun.
The Commissioner of Police now has the sole power to issue Firearm Prohibition Orders.
Criminal offence for possessing or sharing 3D printer blueprints for guns.
Reckless discharge of a weapon toward a building or vehicle carries a 16 year prison sentence.
Prison time for reckless discharge rises to 20 years if the target is a place of worship or the act is motivated by hate.
Criminal offence for planning a crime that is likely to cause death or serious injury.
