“I am delighted to make a brief contribution to debate on the Statute Law (Miscellaneous Provisions) Bill (No 2) 2025. This bill is procedural and another example of this Government continually reviewing legislation to ensure that it is fit for purpose. The bill fixes typographical errors and ensures that the law can be practised on its basis. That said, governments have done this for generations.”

As I said earlier, the bill is important because it gives effect to minor policy changes that do not warrant bringing in a separate bill. Statute Law (Miscellaneous Provisions) Bill (No 2) 2025

Schedule 1 to the bill contains policy changes of a minor and non-controversial nature. The schedule gives effect to proposals that are of such minor consequence that they do not warrant the introduction of a separate amending bill. The schedule contains amendments to five Acts and one regulation. I outline some of those amendments for the House. Schedule 1 includes an amendment to the Marine Estate Management Act 2014 to replace the requirement to publish certain plans and notices on the Regional NSW website with publication on a relevant New South Wales Government website. Amendments to the Service NSW (One-stop Access to Government Services) Act 2013 and to the regulation will replace references to the chief executive officer of Service NSW with "Secretary of the Department of Customer Service", reflecting machinery of government changes.
