Transport Legislation Amendment Bill 2025

the bill includes a provision to implement the Government’s election commitment to remove roadworks speed limits where there are no roadworks underway and it is safe to do so. This has been a longstanding election commitment on the part of the Government, and this bill delivers on that commitment. Specifically, the bill includes an amendment to the Roads Act 1993 to make clear that all road authorities—including Transport for NSW, local councils and their contractors—must comply with a standard setting out requirements for the installation, management and removal of roadworks speed limits. This amendment is about assuring motorists that, when roadworks speed limits are in place, they are necessary.
