Effects of this bill

If this bill passes, it means that:

Victims who are witnesses in a trial must be told how the process works; they must be informed of their role in the prosecution.
The Commissioner can advocate for victims' rights at a systemic level.
People can make complaints to the Commissioner about alleged breaches of the Charter.
The Governor can remove the Commissioner from office for incompetence.
Relevant agencies can give information to the Commissioner; the Commissioner can set up information sharing arrangements with these agencies.
People must not disclose information obtained through the administration of this Act.
The Victims Advisory Board is abolished.
