Effects of this bill
If this bill passes, it means that:
The Minister can acquire land by agreement or compulsory process.
The Minister can buy, lease, exchange, or dispose of property; this must align with the objects of the Housing Act 2001.
The Minister can accept property as a gift or bequest.
The Minister can accept the surrender of land leased or granted under the Act.
The Minister can exercise the same functions as the NSW Land and Housing Corporation; some specific regulatory exceptions apply.
The Minister can transfer assets, rights, and liabilities to or from a government agency; the agency must consent unless the Minister is already responsible for it.
Transfer orders automatically move assets to the new owner; they also transfer legal rights, liabilities, and pending court proceedings.
