Effects of this bill
If this bill passes, it means that:
Development applications for small residential homes are automatically approved if the consent authority does not decide within 60 days.
Modifications to existing small residential consents are automatically approved if the consent authority does not decide within 60 days.
Councils are taken to have issued construction, occupation, or subdivision certificates if they fail to do so within 60 days.
These automatic approvals exclude large flats, boarding houses, group homes, and seniors housing.
The Minister must review if these rules increased housing supply every three years; the results must be tabled in Parliament.
