Effects of this bill

If this bill passes, it means that:

Organisations are now liable for child abuse perpetrated by their associates at any time; this includes abuse that happened before 26 October 2018.
Organisations are now vicariously liable for child abuse committed by an employee at any time; this includes abuse that happened before 26 October 2018.
Courts can set aside agreements that prevent a person from suing for child abuse.
This power applies if the agreement was made before the 2025 Act.
This power applies if the organisation would have been liable for the abuse under the 2025 Act.
