Effects of this bill
If this bill passes, it means that:
Children aged 8 to 15 can work a maximum of 8 hours per day; they can work no more than 4 days per week.
Children aged 8 to 15 can only be employed between 6am and 11pm.
The Children's Guardian can no longer remove the daily care and control of a child from an authorised carer.
Administrators must consult with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities when managing the Children's Guardian Act and regulations.
Part-time members of the Youth Advisory Council must be under 25 when appointed.
Anyone acting as the Children's Guardian has all the functions of that office.
