Effects of this bill
If this bill passes, it means that:
Bail authorities face stricter limits when granting bail to people aged 14–17.
These limits apply to serious breaking and entering or motor theft.
The person must have been on bail for a similar offence when the new crime happened.
Authorities must have a high degree of confidence the person will not commit another serious crime if released.
These restrictions are extended until 4 April 2028.
