Effects of this bill
If this bill passes, it means that:
The Trust no longer needs the Minister to approve the terms and conditions of leases, licences and easements.
Commercial leases on Trust lands can now last up to 50 years; this is up from 8 years.
The Trust cannot grant a lease or licence longer than 5 years without the Minister's consent.
The Trust must use an open tender process for any lease or licence lasting 10 years or more.
The Trust now owns specific lots of land in the Blue Mountains Botanic Garden Mount Tomah and the Australian Botanic Garden Mount Annan.
