Effects of this bill

If this bill passes, it means that:

The Secretary can employ staff to operate government early learning centres.
People who fail eligibility and suitability criteria cannot work in the government early learning centre workforce.
Staff in the government early learning centre workforce get one and a half months of paid long service leave for every additional five years of service.
Employees can hold shares or interests in shares.
People who stop being employees can apply in writing to the Secretary for reinstatement.
The Minister can issue orders about employees working at a grade higher or lower than their appointment.
The government early learning centre workforce is added to the teaching service for the establishment of committees.
The Act ends on 30 June 2025.
