Effects of this bill

If this bill passes, it means that:

The Rice Marketing Act no longer applies to rice grown and harvested in Ballina, Byron, Clarence Valley, Kyogle, Lismore, Richmond Valley and Tweed.
The Rice Marketing Board owns all rice until 30 June 2025.
Rice ceases to be a regulated primary product from 1 July 2025.
The Rice Marketing Board must wind up its affairs for the excluded region.
The Board must finish winding up its affairs by 1 July 2026.
Producers and buyers in the excluded region are exempt from certain marketing restrictions.
