Effects of this bill

If this bill passes, it means that:

Companies seeking approval under section 9 of the Coal Industry Act 2001 must be wholly owned in equal shares by the Mining and Energy Union (MEU) and the Minerals Council.
Registered employer or employee organisations are exempt from duty when transferring property due to an amalgamation or withdrawal from an amalgamation.
The Coal Industry Act 2001 replaces references to the CFMEU with the Mining and Energy Union (MEU).
The MEU replaces the CFMEU in the Electricity Infrastructure Investment Act 2020; it also replaces them in the Work Health and Safety (Mines and Petroleum Sites) Act and Regulation.
