Effects of this bill

If this bill passes, it means that:

The government cannot grant petroleum titles for land in the Liverpool Plains gas exclusion zone.
Existing petroleum titles in the zone are cancelled; this applies if no mining has started.
Pending applications for titles or renewals in the zone are refused.
People cannot carry out petroleum exploration or production in the zone.
Breaching the ban on development triggers a Tier 1 monetary penalty.
The Crown will not pay compensation or refund fees resulting from these changes.
