Effects of this bill

If this bill passes, it means that:

People cannot explore for or recover petroleum and minerals from the sea bed in coastal waters.
People cannot build facilities to maintain, fuel, or process petroleum and minerals from these coastal waters.
The Minister cannot grant new permits for exploration in coastal waters.
The Minister cannot grant new licences to recover petroleum from coastal waters.
The Minister cannot grant new licences to build pipelines for petroleum recovery in coastal waters.
The Minister cannot grant new licences for offshore minerals; this does not apply to recovering sand for beach nourishment.
