Effects of this bill
If this bill passes, it means that:
The Environmental Trust grows from 5 to 6 members.
The minister must appoint an Aboriginal person to the Trust.
The Secretary of the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water replaces the Chief Executive of the Office of Environment and Heritage as a member.
The term 'Aboriginal person' now follows the definition used in the Aboriginal Land Rights Act 1983.
