Effects of this bill

If this bill passes, it means that:

Rescue units cannot operate without accreditation; this includes units made up of people from different emergency services or agencies.
The Minister for Emergency Services can issue volunteer employment protection orders for up to 14 days.
The Premier or the Minister for Emergency Services can revoke these protection orders via the Gazette or legislation website.
The Commissioner of Fire and Rescue NSW must follow the Minister's directions.
The NSW Reconstruction Authority can direct local councils to take specific actions regarding environmental planning.
People exercising Rural Fires Act functions generally need permission to act on land controlled by a transport authority.
Permission is not needed for Transport for NSW land unless rail services are involved or affected.
NSW Rural Fire Service members must notify Transport for NSW if they close a street while acting on its land without permission.
