Effects of this bill

If this bill passes, it means that:

Election officials must ask voters for a current ID document; they must reject the vote if the person refuses or fails to show one.
Election officials must ask absent voters for a current ID document; they must reject the application to vote if the person refuses or fails to show one.
Election officials cannot ask silent electors or absent silent electors for ID.
People making a declaration under section 137 of the Electoral Act 2017 must show a current ID document.
The Electoral Commissioner determines the electronic and printed format for district electoral rolls.
