Effects of this bill
If this bill passes, it means that:
Police, correctional officers, and juvenile justice officers cannot use spit hoods; these are head coverings used to stop someone from spitting or biting
Staff in drug and alcohol treatment facilities cannot use spit hoods
Medical officers and staff in mental health facilities cannot use spit hoods
The ban on spit hoods now applies to forensic and correctional patients
Helmets designed to prevent self-harm are still allowed
