Effects of this bill
If this bill passes, it means that:
People must not intentionally damage, destroy, or remove defibrillators without a reasonable excuse.
Owners of large commercial, government, and public passenger vehicles must install and maintain defibrillators; they must test the devices at least once every 12 months.
Owners must put up signs showing where defibrillators are located; they must also send location and battery data to the Minister.
The Minister must keep a public register of defibrillators; this must be accessible via a smartphone app.
The Minister must provide defibrillator training to specific groups; they must also run a public awareness strategy for at least 5 years.
Authorised officers can issue penalty notices for offences.
