Effects of this bill
If this bill passes, it means that:
People must not intentionally damage, destroy, or remove a defibrillator without a reasonable excuse.
Owners of large commercial, government, and residential care buildings must install and maintain defibrillators; they must add one extra unit for every 1,200m² of floor space.
Owners of emergency and public passenger vehicles must install a defibrillator; they must place a sign on the outside of the vehicle.
Responsible persons must notify the Minister within 30 days of installing a defibrillator; they must report any changes within 14 days.
The Minister must keep a public register of defibrillators; this must be available via a smartphone app.
The Minister must provide defibrillator training to specific groups and run a 5-year public awareness campaign.
Authorised officers can issue penalty notices for defibrillator-related offences.
