Effects of this bill
If this bill passes, it means that:
Forestry operation approval holders cannot work in areas of regional koala significance.
The ban also applies to any area the Minister declares as koala habitat.
The Minister must declare an area as koala habitat if a qualified ecologist or forestry expert assesses it as such.
The Minister must table these habitat assessments in both Houses of Parliament.
