Effects of this bill

If this bill passes, it means that:

The Health Insurance (Pathology - Fees) Act 1991 and its related amendment for Norfolk Island are abolished.
The Health Minister must now provide a notice when accepting a person's undertaking. This notice must state when the undertaking starts, how long it lasts, and how the person can have the decision reviewed by the Administrative Review Tribunal.
The Health Minister can now approve or refuse a written application to have premises accredited as a pathology laboratory. If the premises are approved, the Health Minister must give a copy of the approval to the applicant.
The Commonwealth must refund fees paid under the old pathology fees law if the undertaking or premises approval starts on or after 1 July 2025.
