Effects of this bill
If this bill passes, it means that:
The Health Minister must now give written notice to pathology practitioners and authorities when accepting their undertakings. This notice must state when the undertaking starts, how long it lasts, and how to request a review through the Administrative Review Tribunal.
Pathology practitioners, pathology authorities, and accredited pathology laboratories no longer have to pay acceptance or accreditation fees.
The Health Minister must give a copy of the approval to any person whose premises are approved as an accredited pathology laboratory.
The Commonwealth must refund fees paid under the old pathology fees laws if the undertaking or laboratory approval starts on or after 1 July 2025.
