Effects of this bill

If this bill passes, it means that:

The Health Minister must now give a written notice when accepting a person's undertaking under health insurance laws. This notice must state when the undertaking starts, how long it lasts, and how the person can seek a review through the Administrative Review Tribunal.
The Health Minister can now approve or refuse an application in writing to have premises accredited as a pathology laboratory. If the premises are approved, the Health Minister must give a copy of the approval to the applicant.
The Commonwealth must refund fees paid under the old pathology fees laws if the undertaking or laboratory approval starts on or after 1 July 2025.
The laws that set fees for pathology services and the specific laws for pathology fees in Norfolk Island are abolished.
