Effects of this bill

If this bill passes, it means that:

Importers cannot bring wearable recording devices into Australia unless the Home Affairs Minister or an allowed person gives them written permission.
When deciding whether to allow a wearable recording device to be imported, the Home Affairs Minister or an allowed person must consider if the device is meant to be used as a disability aid.
The Home Affairs Minister or an allowed person can set specific conditions for importing a device and can cancel the permission if those conditions are not met.
