Effects of this bill

If this bill passes, it means that:

The Health Insurance (Pathology - Fees) Act 1991 and its related Norfolk Island amendment are abolished.
The Health Minister must now give a written notice to people whose undertakings are accepted. This notice must state when the undertaking starts, how long it lasts, and how to request a review through the Administrative Review Tribunal.
The Health Minister can now approve or refuse applications for accredited pathology laboratory premises in writing. If the premises are approved, the Health Minister must give a copy of the approval to the applicant.
The Commonwealth must refund fees paid under the old pathology fees law if the undertaking or premises approval starts on or after 1 July 2025.
