Effects of this bill

If this bill passes, it means that:

Registered higher education providers must pay the National Student Ombudsman levy; they must also pay any penalties for late payments.
The Secretary must give providers a notice stating the levy amount; the notice must specify the year the levy relates to and the due date.
Providers must pay the levy by the date specified in the notice.
Providers remain liable to pay the levy even if the Secretary fails to give them a notice.
The Minister can make rules regarding late payment penalties; these rules can cover refunds, waivers, and the review of collection decisions.
