Effects of this bill
If this bill passes, it means that:
The Vice-Chancellor of the Australian National University cannot earn more than $430,000 per year.
Table A higher education providers must limit Vice-Chancellor pay to less than $430,000 per year.
The Minister can set a different pay limit for a Vice-Chancellor's first year; this must be done by 1 July of the previous year.
Higher education providers must give TEQSA information about Vice-Chancellor pay if requested in writing.
Providers have at least 14 days to respond to a TEQSA information request.
A provider breaches its conditions if it fails to fix a pay limit violation within three months.
