Effects of this bill
If this bill passes, it means that:
Providers of licensed interactive wagering services must not advertise their services; this ban rolls out in four stages.
ACMA must ban gambling ads during news and current affairs programs; it must also ban them in publications and online.
ACMA must ban gambling ads and commentator betting odds one hour before and after live sporting events.
ACMA must ban gambling ads between 6:00 pm and 10:00 pm.
ACMA must eventually ban all gambling ads across broadcast, online, and print platforms.
ACMA can make rules to manage these bans; it must consult the Minister and consider if penalties or support payments are needed.
