Effects of this bill
If this bill passes, it means that:
National system employees get 12 days of paid reproductive health leave every 12 months; this leave does not accumulate year to year.
Employees can use this leave for conditions like endometriosis, PCOS, menopause, or perimenopause; it also covers fertility treatments, preventative screenings, and reproductive surgeries.
Employers must pay employees their full rate of pay while they are on this leave.
Employers do not have to pay casual employees for leave hours that were not already rostered.
The Fair Work Commission can vary existing enterprise agreements if their reproductive health leave terms are worse than the new legal minimum.
Entities reporting on gender equality must now disclose their policies and measures for supporting employees experiencing menopause or perimenopause.
