Effects of this bill

If this bill passes, it means that:

People cannot import or export greyhounds or their reproductive material without official permission.
The minister can only grant permission if the greyhound is a domestic pet; it cannot be for breeding, racing or commercial use.
Exporters must keep records of the greyhound's age, sex, weight and the reason for export.
Exporters must provide these records to the minister or an authorised person upon request.
Any new law that removes these prohibitions must be approved by a resolution of both Houses of Parliament.
