Effects of this bill

If this bill passes, it means that:

The Regulator manages a new Health and Safety Fund; this fund supports activities that improve work health and safety outcomes.
The Fund is paid for by Parliament; it also uses money from fines and expiation fees under work health, safety, explosives, and dangerous substances laws.
The Regulator must balance payments between employer and employee organisations; it should also fund research and industry bodies.
The Regulator must use a portion of the Fund for safety initiatives regarding explosives and dangerous substances.
The Regulator must follow guidelines created with the SafeWork SA Advisory Committee.
The Regulator cannot use the Fund for its own administrative or operational costs; the Workplace Safety Minister can approve exceptions for special safety projects.
