Effects of this bill
If this bill passes, it means that:
Donors are deemed to have consented to the use of their gametes or embryos for the completion of a family; they can still modify or withdraw this consent.
ART providers cannot provide treatment if it would result in more than 5 families using a donor's gametes in the ACT; the limit is 10 families across Australia.
ART providers must provide required information about donors.
ART providers can use subsequent donated gametes or embryos created before the transitional period without following certain extended reporting and consent provisions.
