Effects of this bill
If this bill passes, it means that:
The Brisbane Airport Rail Link Deed is terminated; all rights and obligations under the deed end.
The Queensland Rail Transit Authority must operate the Brisbane Airport Rail Link.
Compensation for the termination of the deed cannot exceed the value of the service concession intangible asset listed in USS Axle's 2026 financial statements; a later equivalent asset value applies if available.
Fares for the Brisbane Airport Rail Link cannot exceed 50c in any integrated mass transit service contract.
The minister must introduce a Bill in the Legislative Assembly within 3 months of the act's assent to meet specific transport objectives.
